Internal decorating in Hale

Hale and Hale Barns are close to home for us — a short run from Wythenshawe — and we do a lot of interior work in the village.

The older parts of Hale have substantial Edwardian and inter-war villas with high ceilings, bay windows, wide hallways and a lot of original joinery. The newer parts have large modern detached houses where the finish expectation is essentially flawless: flat walls, crisp lines, and woodwork with no brush texture in it at all. For that second kind we often spray doors, wardrobes and kitchen units rather than brushing them, because it is the only way to get a genuinely flat finish on a modern flat door.

Kitchens and open-plan living spaces come up a lot here. Those rooms take the hardest use in the house, so we use scrubbable trade finishes on the walls rather than a standard matt that marks the first time somebody leans a chair against it.
